Many of you have seen that I've posted on this site before, but today along with my prickly tingly leg skin sensations I am experiencing very achy heavy feeling legs.  I feel like life is passing me by while I suffer through various degrees of pain and abnormal discomfort.  I've had many tests and they have all come back normal, so going back to the doctor is a bit futile. He starting me on cipralex, but I'd have to say if it is doing anything it is pretty subtle, so I am considering coming off of it.

I feel that I am working on my anxiety and really don't know what to do next.  I read self help books, do yoga, try to stay involved in activities, exercise and I eat quite well.  I am at a loss. These symptoms have been hanging around for 2 years so..... The last time I had these symptoms they stayed for 4 months, so this is a long stint.

Any words of encouragement or suggestions would be great.  Since it won't go away I am now thinking that I have some metabolic disorder, or a virus or some autoimmune disease.....  Help!!!  This just has to go away.  Today feels particulary bad.  Thanks for any comments.

My doctor always says time is the internists best friend.  He means that if you've had these symptoms for this long it becomes more and more likely that it is nothing that is physically wrong with you.  Instead, it is something that is "real," like anxiety, but just not dangerous or scary like what you're talking about.  You can't have a virus for years...you sound like you've been to an endo.  You have anxiety...the same thing you've had the whole time.
I know how you feel and how hard it is.  Just today I gave in and made an appointment with my psychiatrist because I need to try some medication.  I need to do something to ease up this anxiety....It's such a long exhausting life with this kind of constant fear and obsession. I know.
I'm sorry I can't be more help, but I just wanted you to know that I know how you feel and I hope it gets better for you soon. :)

you can question yourself and "what if" into oblivion green.

as wishing said, and what I told you a while back on a post of yours basically asking/saying/worrying the same thing,  if you've had these symptoms for several years, off/on, and nothing has progressed and you are still able to go about your life pretty much unhampered----then how could it be a severe disease?  IDK maybe there are weird diseases out there that just hang out causing minor stuff for a few years before they make their dasterdly move.  However, while I don't know everything  ::) :winking0008:,  I've not heard of such diseases....

if you feel it necessary, at your next physical, ask the doctor about any said diseases that may behave that way.....

I do sympathize with you. I know this is quite worrying to you. But part of me thinks that, while you are engaging in proactive habits, you are still hanging on to a few of those reactive ones.  AND by doing that, it makes it harder for the proactive to get ahead.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

prickly tingly leg skin sensations?

I have that exact sensation right now, but also of the arms. Do you get like a sore pain too, as if you have had a top layer of skin removed?

Wishingforcalm2, you have helped just by replying and saying the things you have said.  Thanks to you too sixpack.  I think I may have asked my doctor the question you mentioned and he really couldn't come up with anything.    :(

vigilante, it is more of a prickly feeling and it is always in the legs.  Hope yours goes away.  Hope mine goes away too. :(

so why does that bother you--as indicated by your  :( face?   I mean that just further indicates that you don't have 1. a big arsed scary thing  2. there are no stealthy diseases that lay in wait until you relax and accept that anxiety is your issue. 3. that your BIG issue is you have an anxiety disorder that, yes, you are working on proactively BUT you are also sneaking in some reactive habits that are bunging up your progress .  :winking0008:

sounds to me like you are going to live.......  despite what your anxiety may be telling you.

Sounds like anxiety, possibly combined with fatigue.  Also possible that you have a pinched nerve in your lower back that's causing discomfort.  Highly doubtful that you have anything serious going on :)

Thanks everyone for the responses.  Missworry, I've been tested for Lyme disease twice and both times it came back negative.  Believe me, I've run the gamet when it comes to testing.

Our bodies are far from perfect. The front of my right thigh has been numb since my pregnancy. My son is 19...so twenty years now. Some days it feels like pins and needles and hurts quite a bit. Other days it is quietly numb. My doctor said I could go through some testing to find out why I have it, but in the end there probably isn't much that can be done for it. It just is what it is. I chose not to get any testing done. Sometimes aches and pains are just aches and pains.  Lots of times anxiety causes those pains or exacerbates the real ones.

Green I've had these leg symptoms for a while now too. All the testing has been fine. The leg pain and stiffness gets to me the most. I have some great stretches for the hips and lower back if you'd be interested. They help me quite a bit. I got them from my physiotherapist and some from my chiropractor.

I feel just like you, I work at it my anxiety yet it hangs around. I've been tested for all those things you mentioned, autoimmune, viruses, etc, all negative.

Looks like something we're just stuck with  ::)  I do work on it though like I said and have more good days than bad (both the anxiety and the pain). All in all, it could be worse!

Hope you find some relief.

What test did you do? The standard doctor testing is 50 percent accurate ... Have you used igenex they are the best? I ha lots of your symptoms and thought it was anxiety and it ended up being lyme .... At leat its treatable ? Maybe you should consider it
