Not another one!!!
« on: February 10, 2013, 08:43:14 PM »
Here we go again.  Someone talk me down.  Last week I was freaking out over floating stools which i still have and now this nagging shoulder pain together with felling like I am constanly catching my breath has me very very concerned about lung cancer.  I havent smoked for a year and even then I never smoked all the time only recreationally. My heart rate is also constantly racing!!!       Here comes another trip to the DR's.

Shortness of breath that isn't actually hindering your breathing (the feeling of constantly catching your breath) was my #1 anxiety symptom when I first started having panic attacks.  Racing heart, also anxiety 101.

Does your shoulder pain get better or worse?  What exacerbates it?  I really honestly doubt you have lung cancer.  You probably have anxiety, and either acid reflux (that can cause shoulder pain...and throat/neck pain...and chest pain...I ended up going to a cardiologist because I was sure I was having heart symptoms.  I was not.) or muscle pain due to tension or something everyday like a pulled muscle.

I dont think its hindering my breathing its a weird feeling really.  I think that I am so fixated on it that I am not breathing properly.  As for the shoulder pain its just consistent its not agonising just annoying.  Very tempted to request a chest x ray.

STAY OFF GOOGLE. YOU'RE FINE.

Your shoulder tension and pain are probably being caused by anxiety, not lung cancer. Think about all the diseases or issues you previously believed you had. Remind yourself that you were wrong all those other times, despite being SO SURE something awful was happening.

your anxious over thinking has you cycling from one disease to the next.

start working on your anxiety disorder and things will, over time, start to get better.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
