Females only please!
« on: February 10, 2013, 10:45:02 AM »
I think i might be pregnant. That doesn't freak me out but the fact that i have the IUD in is FREAKING me out! I don't ever bleed and randomly a few days ago i bled for a day and it went away. Today i woke up with really bad cramps, and i just feel "off" I heard it's really bad to be preggo on the IUD. I'm of course going to call my OB first thing in the morning but i kind of needed some input.

How long have you had your IUD? I had mine for 6 months and bled randomly all the time. I think it's normal. Have you been tracking your cycle? I think it's normal to bleed a little around your period time still with it. That thing made me feel pregnant all the time, but I never was. I hated it and got it taken out. Also, the string can irritate your cervix. You can call tomorrow to check but I wouldn't worry for now.

Have you taken a test yet? I would do that first. I had a friend who got pregnant with an IUD, and everything turned out just fine for her and baby.

My aunt had an IUD when she became pregnant with my cousin. I believe they actually left it in during the pregnancy & then retrieved it after the birth. My cousin was fine.

I do not have an IUD but have had a 1 day period before (actually 2months ago) and it was when I was under a lot of stress/anxiety. I called my gyno and she did blood work-not pregnant. I do know what your stress level is but that can be a huge contributor of a lack of normal menstrual flow.
Also- I have been pregnant twice and never had bleeding. I know everyone is different.

Thanks! I've had the IUD for almost 2 years now. When I had it put in, I bled for a good 7-8 weeks. And now I NEVER get a period. If I do, It's totally random and lasts for less than a day. I haven't gotten a test yet. The cramps seem to have gone away. So I'm going to wait it out a little while.

I have a mirena and am going through the same thing. I still have cycles but I only ever spot on my "period". A got some really bad cramps a few days ago along with some major pms. Then yesterday I slightly spotted. Today I've got nothing.  Doubt you're pregnant, but I've had the same thoughts before!
