snapping out of, and back into reality
« on: February 10, 2013, 07:59:58 AM »
there are times i completely forget my anxiety,
i feel carefree, happy,
and in almost an instant, for an unexplained reason, i feel.. too associated with reality. everything becomes so uncomfortably lucid and it frightens me.

its so hard to explain, and i wish someone could relate,
i want to attribute it to my hypochondriac tendencies but i cant, im not exactly afraid something is seriously wrong with me, its just...

it just feels wrong.
it feels real.
why is that a bad thing

Hi,

Well, if your current experiences are anything like my prior ones, I think what happens, at least as was the case with me, I had been so long living with anxiety brain that this became the "norm" . . . as I began to have the flashes of recovering and reality brain began to be the mode of operation, I felt that something was wrong because it had been so long that I was entrenched in anxiety brain's environment that it had become a comfort zone (yes, I know, a bit odd). Once I started letting reality brain process the input and build a new context for my thinking, then what was uncomfortably lucid (and that is a super term) became the comfort zone and became the norm . . . it does take time . . .I had to guard against slipping back into the comfort zone of anxiety brain, but moving back into reality brain is great . . . go easy, do not overanalyze, and know that there is nothing wrong . . . it's just a new experience and, again for me, it seemed that it came in waves and so I had to rely on my management techniques to process the "new normal" . . . take care and let us know how all is going for you . . .kc

I totally agree with kconners. It's like we worry about not worrying. When things are going right it doesn't make sense because were so used to things going wrong and feeling bad, so when we have a good day, subconsciously our mind is saying when is it going to get bad again. We have to reprogram our brain to accept the new normal and release the old ways of thinking and worrying. Also worrying only when their is the real existence of danger.
