Hey there,
Just curious as to how many with GAD have concerns over it getting/becoming worse...losing it, etc.
Do you "feel" / "think" you are crazy when you are around others or whatever?  B-;

Is any of your intrusive thoughts around concerns of being "crazy" etc ?  :sprachlos020:

Just wondering how common it is for those with GAD...  ::)

I don't feel crazy around "normal" people. Sometimes it heightens my anxiety (not a social anxiety thing, I just get nervous I'm going to break down) but I don't feel different.

I do feel like it's getting worse. It never truly does, but it consists which makes me think at the very least it'll never get better. It's a shitty feeling, because I'll becoming active and I won't think about it, but when I sit down for 2 seconds, I get zapped like a bug. Rushed with thoughts and I can't do anything about it. Blood pressure shoots up, and then I just become sad because there's nothing I can do about it. So I just suffer through my mind being beaten into a pulp, and go to sleep at night and reset. Then pray the next day I wake up better. Never happens. Anxiety is a bitch, a cruel one. Don't ever feel like you're crazy, because it was the way you were made. You won't "go" crazy, you're either already crazy from another condition, or you're going crazy from something else. Anxiety won't make you lose it, it'll just suck the life out of you to where you kind of prefer being crazy, but it'll never happen. Just forget about being crazy, and work on beating your GAD to the ground. If people around you call you crazy without a diagnosis, just ignore them because they can't understand what it's like to have GAD.

Hi Happy sailing,

Good questions. I think severe GAD can definitely bring about more intrusive thoughts especially when we become hyper-vigilant to every expression of every face, every change in our environment, every internal noise etc - you get the idea.

It used to be a overwhelming experience for me when I was coming face to face with GAD for the first time, especially with my mates. I didn't even feel present with them: not so much crazy but rather so fatigued from the constantly brooding and tension resulting from it. However, it does get better and I can assure you. Just see those intrusive thoughts as what they are - thoughts. Nothing harmful. Once you become aware of that, things gradually feel better - actually I shouldn't say 'better' but rather you become more competent and self-sufficient in seeing those thoughts clearer.

Hope this helps.

It seems to be common with people that have anxiety.
There were times I felt like I was losing it for sure. Still go through those feelings.
As Coeus stated, these are just thoughts, thoughts that can't hurt us or even turn us to go crazy. :)
