Things in our digestive causing brain issues?
« on: February 09, 2013, 09:31:30 AM »
Hey there,
Just something I have been thinking about that might interest those who have anxiety-brain chemistry issues...
As I have heard, they have done studies on the "flora" etc in one's digestive system being affected, that has caused autumn.  I heard there was a story where a baby was given anti-biotics for ear infections etc that affected the babies flora and some kind of something in their digestive system went to the brain area and caused autism.

As I understand it, our bodies have serotonin everywhere, including our stomachs etc. And it is where we have more serotonin than in the brains, as I understand it.
Also, whatever happens in our digestive systems obviously affects our brains etc
As well, when one has stress etc it affects our stomachs- which affects our serotonin there- our stomach balance etc... So our food,, what we eat, or stomachs/digestive system balance affects our chemistry-brains etc.

Just thought this might benefit some people?

I know for me, I was having stress show up in my stomach a while before it became an issue with chemistry.

Obviously there are/can be many contributing factors to result in the anxiety/depression etc.  However, it seems, the chemicals we come across daily, stuff in our food etc can obviously have an imprint of sorts.  Also, our stomach/digestive system balance etc is important.  How many sufferers have IBS?  Like, which came first?  The stress, causing IBS (maybe foods not hood etc) and that causing chemistry issues in the brain....

Just food for thought..

That is really interesting.  I also have my stomach/bowl area problems before the anxiety shows in a brain chemical way.  I see a medical herbalist and she also tells me that the stomach bowel area affects the chemical aspects of your brain.

Alway good to have food for thought  :happy0151:

Hey there Fireraiser,

Yeah, it seemed to happen that way for me too.  Stomach issues and IBS..then the brain chemistry-intrusive thoughts issue.

Curious as to what your Herbalist recommends for one's stomach and intestinal area?  Ay specific type of probiotics/prebiotics, foods, acidophilus or something?

Thanks!!  :winking0008:
