suddenly chestpain!
« on: February 04, 2013, 03:52:12 AM »
just when i thought i was doing better...

okay, the short and sweet version of this story is that i decided to kneel down (i was changing guitar strings in my bedroom and needed a better angle) when suddenly i got this incredibly sharp pain that started in the center of my chest and expanded to my pectorals muscles. after about 10 to 15 seconds it dissipated, and left my chest completely sore.

the last time i went to the hospital was in december, and of course my ekg results were absolutely fine. now, i do have costochondritis, but i'm beginning to fear that it's turned into tietze syndrome. the tenderness isn't localized in my chest anymore, and i've felt it in my side as well as shoulder and upper arm.

so at the moment i'm typing this out with a sore, tender chest and a slight difficulty breathing (which i've heard happens with tietze syndrome). i took an ibuprofen and i'm waiting for it to kick in. i was just hoping to get more opinions on what this might be. if you have any ideas or comments, or if you have costochondritis or tietze syndrome, please share your information with me. anything at all would be appriciated, and, as always, thank you for taking the time to read this.

EDIT: after posting this i realized it would probably be better suited for the hypochondria section of the forum. sorry about that, i guess i have an old habit of immediately going to this topic when i'm on the boards. if a mod sees this and can move it i'd appreciate it (i dont see an option for that and not sure i have the ability to completely delete this post). again, sorry about the mix up.

I've never heard of the syndrome that you have but with what you've explained about the symptoms that come with it, it sounds like its a part of the syndrome.

Maybe talking with your doctor or doing some research on things you can do to help keep the symptoms under control can help ease up your mind about the sensations?

Like I said I've never heard of the syndrome, so I'm not sure what can be done.

I have this same issue. I have Costochondritis.
It is not fun. I know that I will get times when I feel like the pain is moving over to the left side and down the arm. The tests I have had and then going to the doctor each visit has been fine.
The only thing that helps me is to rest and relax. (Not an easy thing to do in this world).
