Sounds like a bad reaction to something. Did you do anything different at all yesterday? By way of eating or even wearing a different type of fabric. If it is really bothering you I would have it checked out. First just visit your local chemist. They might be able to give you an answer to save you visiting the doctor and having to pay for the visit. But worth having it checked out.

I have insatiable itching when the weather gets cold and if the weather is very dry.

Itching and anxiety go together like crazy.  My allergist says that anxious people just have really "twitchy skin."  She guesses that it has something to do with the histamine release and response being so constant (also cause of anxiety). So basically, all the 'real' culprits, like allergy or dry skin, or irritants are just heightened.
Try to distract yourself a bit and see if it lessens.  Then you'll know it's more mental than physical...

Itchiness is one of my first symptoms of anxiety... sometimes I feel it before I even realize I'm stressed out. I have it all over... head, arms, legs, neck - everywhere. And it goes away as soon as I feel normal again.

well, still have this going on. Im starting to get kinda prickly feelings with it. Went to the gp who is doing some bloods for kidney and liver and whatever but I really dont expect anything to show in them. She said it may just be anxiety...

It's very probably anxiety. Every time I get anxious, I itch. But it'll be nice to see the blood work so you can know for sure.
