Mucus/Phlegm when eating
« on: January 31, 2013, 07:48:03 PM »
When I eat certain foods (usually whenever I have lunch or have something with carbs), I feel the need to clear my throat after it or cough a little. The cough sounds wet.
I think this is a reflux thing because I don`t get it with other foods. Like, I do not cough when eating cereal, vegetables, or light snacks.

is this dangerous?

certain foods cause phlegm in people.  it is just the way it is.

I get a lot of phlehm with dairy products (as most docs will say that is quite common) and someitmes with pastas.

ain't no big thing.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Same here, I basically eliminated dairy (with the exception of cheese on occasion) because it had that affect on me.

I get the same thing! This has never turned into a full blown HA attack for me though. I occasionally worry about it for a couple of hours but then I get over it.

You are completely normal. No worries!

I've had this for years...depends on what kind of food and is very irritating when eating with a group of people.
