Dunno what to think now...
« on: January 24, 2013, 11:56:24 AM »
Well my sinus CT was clear apart from maxillary sinus inflammation and deviated septum apparently, still waiting to talk to ENT or see them about it. My usual GP obtained the results for me...Iv been worrying myself stupid over a brain tumor but I was told this ct scan also shows the front parts of the brain too by ENT.

I still get headaches mostly facial/eyes dull nagging pressure type pain, and I have all these "nonspecific" symptoms going on as my GP calls them. Should I forget this anxiety over BT's knowing Iv tested clear on this CT scan as well as eye tests from an opthamologist surgen and my bloods are also fine?

Im guessing the inflammation is of the chronic type, considering I dont really have a cold or virus at the time of the CT, but I have also suffered badly from allergies over the past year. Im guessing this inflammation could cause these headaches/pressure/dizzy feel.

Think Ill go back to my GP soon and try do something with regards to the HA

yes forget the nonsense about the brain tumor.   I never understood why you thought you had one anyway???

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Those are the ONLY two things you should think. Definitive test done, and you're absolutely fine.

Difficulty in accepting the diagnosis, means perhaps you should start combating your HA with some therapeutic help.

I've been going through the symptoms you're talking about for about the last 10-15 years.  It's become worse the past 2 years.  A few years back, I went in for a sinus scan and it came back clear.  I have the one-sided headaches, the pain that goes into my teeth and jaw.

During this same time, I've been having some major dental work done and have learned that this is nothing more than a form of sinusitis.  Amazing to think that the sinuses can cause this much pain and even go into your head and your teeth and jaw, but they can.  If need be, take an over the counter antihistimine (Claritin or generic brand).  Use a Neti pot or sinus rinse (I do daily).  Don't use nasal sprays - they are addictive and can cause problems down the road.

As mentioned by the others, you're all clear as far as something sinister that threatens your life. Awesome....isn't that what you wanted? So now it is time to try to, as effectively as you can, treat your sinus issues. This doesn't mean anymore medical testing, in my book. HA peeps have medical stuff just like the general population and our treatment should, overwhelmingly, be the the same, as well.

Then, onto the mental health challenges. Why would you go to your GP for this? Is your GP someone you trust to give you some guidance as to where you might seek out the appropriate help? I.E - counseling, therapy. If so, then great. A GP is for your physical body (which touches into our mental health, in the end). A pyschologist / therapist is for your mental health (which touches into our physical health, in the end). Both should be a part of our overall wellness program, when we struggle with HA / ADs. Get the best appropriate help from the best source:) Then learn how to best help yourself for your longterm healing path:)

Peace and Feel Well:)

Ah I mean ask him to refer me onto someone again, I did used to go to CBT but I found myself not doing the things I was told to, I might ask to see a pysch. Im also reading a book at present on overcoming HA based on CBT methods so I will try to follow these methods.

Also I got back down to the gym today for the first time in 3 months (since this stuff began) I have lost so much fitness it seems, I felt sick while exercising - maybe I was trying to push myself too hard and trying to lift weights I was at before I left. I wont give up however ill get over the pain from the workout over the next few days then go back to square 1 I think and build back up and try regain my fitness.

You know, I think alot of people feel like you just need to see a therapist and take a course in CBT and you're good to go.  What people don't understand is that, for the most part, this is a life-long journey.  It takes work people.  Lots of work.  And patience.  And persistence.  Our anxiety doesn't always go away.  In fact, most of the time it doesn't.  It hides out, but it can come back when we least expect it and without any idea of where it came from or what's causing it.

I think you're giving up too easily here ..... you tried CBT, but you didn't stick with it.  Don't say you will try to follow the methods of a book - say you WILL do it - religiously!  You need to be strong in order to manage your anxiety effectively.
