hormones and emotions
« on: January 24, 2013, 10:46:13 AM »
Why are my emotions all over the place? One day I am happy and positive and the next day or two I have bad anxiety and crying- then I am ok again for a day and then i'm really bad the next.  I cant take it! does anyone feel like this? i remember when i was always positive and never down...I wish for those days again. I know something is up w my hormones and think maybe its an imbalance..has any of the girls on here had hormone issues before?

Hormones can affect your moods a lot so if you do have an imbalance that could be it and my anxiety is always worst before a period. Also anxiety can play havoc with your emotions too I've spent days when my anxiety is bad crying and feeling depressed and on the days when it hasn't been so bad I've felt great. I think it's probably a mixture of your hormones and anxiety.

yeaa..my emotions are just so up and down- It started about a year after I had my child. I def want to get my hormones checked - my cycle is very irregular and I think that plus my anxiety has the best of me at times.

Hey there..
Yeah, the "saying" is- post parum depression up to a year after childbirth.  I am not an expert, but it does sound like it is an hormonal imbalance.  I haven't had kids, however, I had chronic job stress for a few years, then a family tragedy-that is stress- and I am at the age where I think I might be peri-meno... Anyway, I believe I have/had  adrenal fatigue- or what have you.  Anyway, I do think my system is "off" for sure.  So, I also think our bodies- hormones and all- get out of whack and the fallout then affects our brains- chemistry and emotions.  Not sure of this helps.  Hope so.  I am getting some tests done through my GP. However, whether you get the "right" tests done, to get the "right" diagnosis/conclusions...what is the "right" best treatment plan to get one's hormones etc back into balance.  Obviously diet and exercise seems to be outer on this page a lot to help with anxiety-and the "chemical- imbalance".
Did this help?
Let me know what info-help you get from your GP... Maybe we can help each other!!

Happy sailing,

Thanks for the reply and yes we should keep each other posted. I have an app and will be requesting them to check my hormones. They actually suggested it once before but I had to go a certain day in my menstrual cycle and I never went back. I basically eat a healthy diet and try to exercise a couple times during a week but it doesnt seem to help my anxiety- i do feel good during and after a workout but then as soon as I get down time all my worries pop back in my head. And yes, it helped to know that hormones can affect the chemicals in our brains because i cant figure out why I go from happy to sad in no time.
