Reflux question

Due to recent heartburn, I have diagnosed myself with acid reflux. But besides heartburn, are any of these other symptoms associated? Dry throat, lump in throat, feeling of throat tightening, nasty bitter taste in mouth, chest like gas pain. In the back of my HA mind I am thinking some type of cancer but I am trying to calm down and be rational. Thanks - any input would be appreciated.

If it's any help I have all of those plus breathlessness and occasional arm and neck sharp pains. GERD/Reflux messes with the same nerves as the heart so it can mimic other symptoms. I'm having an endoscopy done in a few weeks to confirm things, but I heard it can take many years for cancer to even begin forming in that miny 1% it affects. Anxiety will certainly make things like a tight throat worse though; don't panic! :)

All of that could be attributed to reflux. Going from common run-of-the-mill symptoms to thinking that you have cancer is pure anxiety talk.

Have you spoken to anyone regarding your reflux? It can often be easily controlled with medication which make a big difference.
