New sudden pain in calf, afraid to go to sleep
« on: January 22, 2013, 10:59:24 PM »
Ok so I have never had a big fear over blood clots, but I am about to go into full blown panic mode because now I am afraid I have one.

For the past few months I have had pain in the front of my thigh that ached and occasionally made a pulsating sensation.  I have always gone to the worst conclusions but never blood clots.  However since I am now feeling this pain in my calf, I do not want to go to sleep because I am afraid it will move to my heart or lungs and, well, you can guess the rest. This pain is near the outside of my left calf on the same leg that has been hurting me.  It sort of radiates to the back of my thigh.

What is even worse is lately there have been many coincidences and déjà vu type moments for the past few days so I also have this new paranoia that somehow I am somehow sensing that something bad is happening.

Help me!! As I am typing my heartbeat is getting faster and heavier I am so scared, what should I do

If I had a dollar for every time I was certain something bad was about to happen I would be rich.  This is called fortune telling, a common cognitive distortion.  Blood clots are extremely rare, as you must know.  I can't diagnose you, but it seems the far more likely explanation is just some muscle thing going on.

I just had a leg episode that lasted a few weeks (still twitching a little) and I can't even tell you how much I worried about a blood clot for no reason!
