It's possible you will never get another one.  They're scary but they aren't dangerous.  Migraines can very rarely slightly increase the possibility of having a stroke if you have them frequently, but otherwise, they're just a painful nuisance.  My mom has something like four migraines a week...doctor sent her to a neuro years ago in case it was causing any damage...nope, she's fine.

I get them occasionally for the past 10-15 years. They're annoying but not dangerous. Don't stress and don't Google!

I have them as well. Neuro said they aren't dangerous aside from having a slightly higher risk of cardiovascular problems for the people who have them.

ok thanks 0115 my family does have history of high blood pressure so i will have to keep an eye on that, I am only 22 but it will be good to keep an eye on it in the long run. I have not talked to my doctor about the migraines yet as i have never had another one but when I go in I will have to mention it to her for sure

I've never been told anything about increased risk of stroke or cardiovascular problems. You may want to ask your Dr about that. My neuro nor family dr never mentioned it to me.

Hi,

Yes, I have had them.  I thought I was dying the first time.  I talked to my doctor about them and was told they come on more frequently when people are tired or under a lot of stress.  Don't worry about them at all, I don't and I worry about the most random things.  You know I do the same thing as you mention, I will be having a lovely day and then think about something from a year ago and decide to panic.  Ughh...I hate HA.

Thanks so much middlenamehypo. I also had a major meltdown the first time it happened - they are not fun especially if you already have anxiety. Thank you for your kind words. Im glad it isnt something to worry to much over. your the best!

,soooo of course since i have been thinking about these aura migraines, i got one today! Im pretty proud of myself, i didnt freak out and in doing so the auras didnt seem to be as severe. I usually get the zig zaggy lines and also tingly fingers but it doesnt seem to last long.... they still scare me but it is alot easier to keep calm now that i know what they are - the first time I got it was a different story ..complete freak out. Anyways thanks everyone that gave me peace of mind about these horrible migraines. It really does help to hear from other people! this forum rocks!

My 15 year old son had a skull fracture when he was 2 (thebeginning of my HA) and has had migraines since he was 3. He gets auras and blind spots before the pain sets in...a couple of years ago he had one at school and had numbness in his arm and face, left side. We went to the ER, he had a ct scan and a follow up MRI with his Neuro who diagnosed him with complicated migraines...since then he still has auras, severe headaches and vomiting, but has added slurred speech...he basically speaks gibberish.  It is SO scary!  Bottom line, if He has all of that and is ok, you are definitely okay! :)
