tinnitus/heartbeat
« on: January 21, 2013, 05:52:12 PM »
The past few days my tinnitus has been wicked. But the part that's freaking me out is during quiet moments, the ringing goes in time to my heartbeat. It's quite unsettling, especially with my latest bouts of anxiety all about my heart.

I had exactly this a few months ago, and it freaked me out. I'm still alive, so I'm sure it's all good. ;) But I definitely understand.

Normal with tinnitus. When the heart beats your arteries and capillaries fill with blood and expand. The "in time" ringing is the ear canal slightly getting smaller and bigger with your heart beat.

I've had tinnitus for at least 20 years but I cannot remember it being this loud.

My ears also feel blocked and crackly, every time I turn my head my ears just go crackle, crackle, crackle. In silence I hear EVERYTHING going on in my body. It's a bit unsettling. I'd be glad to get rid of that blocked feeling though, like I want to stick my fingers in there and pop them!

*sigh*

Have you tried Mucinex D?  That's my doctor's recommendation when I clog up.

I've been trying to avoid it, but I may have to pop a Claritin-D to see if that helps.

At least the pulsating is gone (or minimized).

I just realized that after almost nearly a year, I still have the same problem. Crackly ears, but at times REALLY bad  pulsatile tinnitus that seems to go with my heartbeat, and what do you know? It got my heart anxiety going again (though if I open my jaw wide, it all goes away).

I'm still trying to figure out whether to freak out or not. I had a check up back in January and everything was about as perfect as it could be for someone in their late 40s. Doctor seemed unconcerned at the time about the pulsatile tinnitus.
