Can OCD influence Emotions?
« on: January 19, 2013, 09:02:32 PM »
Hey, I'm having a problem with intrusive thoughts towards God, and then my emotions get angry, exactly the opposite of what I want them to be! Does anyone else have this problem?

I have had them in the past, then they evolved into something else. You're not crazy, anxiety does a trip on us. Go to your Dr. and maybe seek counseling. Plus this site has helped me alot! Others here just like us. Good luck.

Hey there,
Yeah, anxiety SUCKS!!!
I have these fears regarding things to do about God and being cra cra....LOL... Questioning things I never used to!
I am a Christian and so some of my anxiety pulls in fears around that stuff.
I don't have much in the way of answers.  Maybe someone else does!! I don't have any fear about God Himself...just stuff around some of the things learned...
Anyway.. Maybe someone else can give you more?

Yeah, I have a Doc, and I'm seeing him for ERP in a couple weeks. I freaked out today cuz all my intrusive thoughts came out while I was ticked off emotionally, and it really scared me cuz I thought that it was me saying those things because I was so angry that they did not make me anxious when they came in. Staying strong for the Lord though. Grace and Peace brothers.!

OCD can cause depression and anxiety. Think about it, you have an intrusive thought, invading your mind, that you can't get rid of nor control. That's enough to make anyone feel defeated, stressed and nervous. In fact, those are understatements. If your obsessive thoughts are accompanied by compulsions, then you basically have nothing else to focus on in your life but this debilitating disease.

Sometimes its difficult to know which came first, the chicken or the egg, the OCD or the feelings it produces. At the end of the day, it doesn't even matter because they feed off each other in a vicious cycle. OCD makes you depressed and anxious and depression and anxiety causes you to OCD.

So yes. OCD can totally affect your emotions. You have to treat it all as one disorder.
