Sporadic fatal insomnia
« on: January 19, 2013, 12:00:26 AM »
For over a week now I haven't been able to fall asleep and if I do it's for maybe over an hour. I also experience very vivid dreams when I do get that hour sleep. I been taking ambien for almost a week and hasn't worked. Also, tried zzz quil before that and didn't work. My anxiety is out of control. Someone tell me I'm crazy and I don't have SFI.

Maybe you are simply trying too hard to fall asleep. Once we can't sleep we get frustrated. Little bit annoyed. Which doesn't help at all. Were we should be trying to still remain still and calm in our beds. Maybe do a few exercises before bed. Some light music on as well. The dreams are normal. Because we have to dream. And as you are getting so little sleep your dreams would be more vivid than normal. Nothing to worry about as far as they are concerned. So just try and relax. Don't get back up out of bed. Don't get angry. Don't try and force yourself to sleep. I am sure things will fall into place come the end of the day.

I had this problem, went to the ER several times. Its scary 0103. I still worry about not be able to sleep because that first month i barely did. Had super cotton mouth and felt full of adrenalin. Idk if it was time, my adrenalin like running out, or the 2mg of klonopin a day i was taking for a while. I'm still taking it too, just a lot less. Pm me if you wanna ask more questions.

I had the same problem last night! SCared me so bad! I was up the whole entire night without a minute of sleep. My thoughts were racing, my heart was pounding and I was so fearful. Ive been such a mess today because of this. Im so scaredd I wont be able to sleep again tonight!

I had problems with this for the longest time... Was on numerous sleep aids for it, ambien, lunesta. Both actually worked pretty well for a few days, until I developed a tollerance to them.
Anyways, this is going to sound weird probably, but these are the things that work for me now.
1. Fall asleep concentrating to the beat of a metronome.
2 count... Well... Anything. Lol.
3. Focus on your breathing and your heart beat. Don't think about being unable to sleep, as posted earlier, this will frustrate you more...
Or try a combination of the 3.

Also, this is going to sound really odd, but when you do end up getting out of bed, fill your bath tub up to about the depth of your ankles, and submerge your feet into the water for aboutn15 minutes. Keep the lights off. There is something about this that relaxes the body. (Read it in some magazine and decided to give it a try. Wasn't too bad!)
Hope this helps!
