new anxiety symptom?
« on: January 18, 2013, 10:25:18 AM »
I'm having a problem deciding if these new symptoms are my anxiety or if something os wrong. I ve experienced neuromuscular and cardiac symptoms before,  but with in the last week ive have increase amount of gas, a lot of intestinal sounds,  pressure, some constipation and the list goes on.  Of course, I'm on weight watchers and with in the last 4 months lost 20lbs. So,  I know the diet consist of a lot of high fiber foods. I also know that too Much fiber can do this.  So I tried to change my diet a bit,  but now ive hit this obsessive worrying thinking I have ovarian cancer. Anyone else get intestinal problems with there anxiety? When do u decide to see a doc?

I get the same symptoms as you sometimes. IBS, diet and stress are known factors that cause
our symptoms.

Stress sounds about 1000 times as likely as ovarian cancer.  Honestly I am amazed sometimes at some of the things folks come up with!!

Let's go over why you don't have cancer.
* Stress commonly affects bowels. Ever get nervous, like super nervous, and you're like "OH NO! I need to poop!" Well, low-grade stress will make your guts do that but not as quick. It builds up.
* High fiber is NOTORIOUS for gas! :P But don't cut it out! Fiber is so great for your bowels, your cholesterol, your body, your health. It's OK If you are a bit gassy.
* Ovarian cancer? Based on such common symptoms? That is like saying "I sneezed. Perhaps I have AIDS." Btw, I just sneezed, and I am fairly certain it was something tickling my nose - not AIDS. Can I be sure? Nope, we never can. Perhaps I do have AIDS and it made me sneeze? Well, that is bloody unlikely. Think about it. Occam's Razer. Simplest answer is most likely true. So yes, in effect, it really was a tickle in the nose to cause a sneeze.

Now apply that to yourself!

yes, you are all probably right. It so very strange the way our mind can make us think very silly about things. I have to realize that somethings I have no control over. It's more likely stress. thank you for helping me see the logic.

I'm having a problem deciding if these new symptoms are my anxiety or if something os wrong.

Every time I read that, or something similar, you can bet your bottom dollar that it's due to anxiety. It's like when you're starting to feel sick and your brain says "Hmm - am I getting the flu?" versus when you actually have the flu, and your brain says "Blerrrgghhh - *hack* *splugh*" etc  :laugh3:

Anyway I have to agree with the comments above - if something was really, seriously wrong you would know. You symptoms could be related to about 1000 other very minor reasons, not least of which is stress and anxiety.
