Awful week Im a Wreck
« on: January 18, 2013, 04:34:47 AM »
Wednesday had to have the family dog put to sleep, he had lymphoma and a gastric ulcer there was nothing they could do. He was a boxer dog and almost human with the way he was. I have steadily got worst since then I have been having headaches anyway but over the past few weeks to a much lesser extent but since wednesday I have had a non stop headache only seems to be sorted out somewhat with codine. I feel dizzy, tired my stomach feels like its spinning around like a washing machine.

To top it all I got my appointment for the CT scan on Monday afternoon - terrified they will find you know what.

Hi Vigilante

I'm so, sooo sorry about your dog. I know what you mean by almost human, when you've had a dog since they were young, it's like they understand every word you say. You must be devasted. :(

From the tone of your post you're going through a really stressful time in your life, and I know from my own experiences that stress causes some serious physical effects. All of the ones you described there plus a million more.

You will get through this, and by the end of it, you will be so much stronger for the experience.

Good luck with your scan! Let us know the results :)

Sorry about your dog. Our dog a number of years ago had to be put to sleep as she
also had Lymphoma. Stress can cause all sort of symptoms and your pets death
is a big stressor as they are part of the family. My doctor told me that tension in your
back, neck and shoulders causes headaches, tingling, etc.

Of course you would feel that way. You lost a member of your family. I'm so sorry by the way, I know how terrible that feels.

Regarding the CT scan, is it only a scan of your sinuses? If so I don't believe that even shows the brain. Unless he said he was doing a full scan.

Either way, I'm going to guess that if he suspected something like a brain tumor he would be sending you to a neurologist. I hope you can get it all sorted out and feel better soon.

ENT guy said he dont think there is any big tumour causing my problems and I maybe have some sinus issues so thats the reason he is CT scanning, he did say it catches some parts of the brain I think not all, and to order a full brain scan he would need a very good reason.

Apart from this latest headache which seems to respond to pain killers, the others had actually been getting less frequent over the past few weeks. He also said he wouldnt call it all anxiety untill after the scan, my gps perfer to do the opposite it seems.

But I know if this scan is clear, I will not be asking for any other tests and I will be firmly taking on my health anxiety and ocd incase I ever get to this stage again, I thought after the last episode about 2-3 years ago I was cured, since I had other things like the gym in my life and I felt better than I ever had but obviously I took my eye off the ball somewhat. I did say to my fiancee before I seem to have this self destruct switch in my head.
