Flu-Like Virus--no spleen--worried!

So- my 15 years old brother who lives with me just got a "flu-like" virus (high fever, cough, muscle aches) and now I am coming down with it ( no fever yet--cough, and just feeling icky) I got my spleen removed 2 1/2 years ago. I am scarred, can I die from the a "flu-like" virus???? Im 25 years old and have never gotten the flu or really even a cold! The news makes this seem sooo deadly!

You will not die because your immune system is just as strong without a spleen.

You will be fine! My husband hasnt had his spleen since he was 6, and has survived the flu often. Just breathe!  :-)
