My dispersonalization is combo'd with disrealization. at time I question reality, question if I'm real, if what I'm looking at is real... These symptoms to generalize it is just an "off feeling" when I feel like I'm just going through the motions of life etc.  I have been feeling this way for a few weeks now but it passes.  How do you feel?

I find this to be the most distressing feeling related to anxiety / OCD.

one of the best things you can do is accept your diagnosis and that this will be a symptom you'll experience from time to time... give yourself time to heal.  You're right it won't happen overnight!  Try to stick to your daily routines as best as possible.

I developed anxiety when I was 28... i'm now 30... I'm fairly new to the world of anxiety but have done a lot of research and reading.  I currently go to therapy once a week and it seems to help blunt the symptoms.

I have had Depersonalization and Derealization for almost 3 years, and dealt with it a tad bit before that, throughout my life. I'm not quite sure what to think of it anymore, but it truly is a real "feeling" to the people who experience it. Whether or not it is actually a disorder is debatable, and quite honestly doesn't matter. It does matter how you approach it though. My symptoms, or at least the way they feel to me, are these: dream like state, feeling disconnected from the world and yourself, feeling foreign, having trouble identifying with anything you used to identify yourself with, foggy memories, distorted ways of thinking ETC ETC.

I'm 100% certain that someone cannot simply attribute every mental issue they have to DP/DR though. However, for me it has amplified everything, and made me "cry over spilled milk", as the saying goes. There are underlying issues that cause this  a majority of the time, and working through those and changing your thinking pattern can be HUGE towards recovery. Your goal should not be to be the same person you were prior to become mentally ill.

Your goal should be to live a happy life, and whatever it takes to get to wherever you want to get, you should go for. Obviously, that's a broad statement and there's a lot of gray area, but I think you see the main point. Sorry I'm a bit off topic here but my point is you are not losing your mind, and the more you worry that you are, the worse it will feel. Good luck.

^^^Would definitely agree with this. But thankfully, like everything, it eventually becomes bearable and you can continue on with life, even if it takes a very very long time.

OMG!!!!

Having just been diagnosed, I have often over the years just felt 'weird' light headed etc, almost like I was hungover. Been pretty bad lately, and I had just put it down to my neck being out.
I had never in a million years thought it could be related to Anxiety.

I am slapping my head in realising this now.

.....but am off the subject....

Weirdest thing for me was that I was worried I was in a reality TV show (like the Truman show or something) and that everyone around me was involved, but it was only me that didnt realise. Now I KNOW that that wasnt the case, it was a just a feeling of 'it might be'.
Used to really worry if I was losing my mind.

.....can laugh at it now though. :)
