ALL DAY LONG worries?
« on: January 16, 2013, 09:38:15 AM »
I feel that anyone who knows me would think that I "function" pretty "normally." However, when my anxiety is particularly bad, I worry about my health ALL DAY long.  I was wondering if anyone else thinks like this:

Wake up -- scan body for numbness.
In Shower-- have a moment of spotty vision, freak out, nervously await a massive migraine or complete loss of vision.
Getting ready for work-- notice my eyes feel dry.  consider an eye doc appointment, wonder if they would find optic neuritis.
On ride to work -- notice floaters in my right eye.  heart beats faster, start wondering if it really is just a harmless thing or if they are going to get really bad.
During work-- feel short of breath, take inhaler, wonder if I am on the verge of a massive asthma attack.
Ride home from work-- sharp pain in head, wonder if it is a stroke... pop 2 advil in case it is a migraine.
In bed-- worry that the humidifier I am running for my cold is depositing minerals into the air that could cause asthma attacks.....

you get the point.  CONSTANT fear of illness/malfunction of the body.  Sometimes this disappears for months and I don't worry about a thing!!  I wish I could identify EXACTLY what triggers it.  I noticed anytime I have sinus problems I get pretty bad anxiety, but I am not sure if that is really the trigger.  :(

I know this feeling so well. It's like my mind constantly searches for something to worry about. And always finds something!

Heck yes I know what you mean! I consider it a great day if even for ANY period of time I can have my mind absent from my current worry. I'm actually off work right now because I couldn't concentrate and do my work. I spent all day symptom researching, testing, checking, etc.

Awful! But, you're not alone.

When I worry, I typically fixate on one symptom at time. Worrying, however can be quite
unbearable, as we all know. I would try to distract yourself with things that occupy your mind and
allow the least bit of distraction.
