Gallbladder?
« on: January 15, 2013, 08:59:03 AM »
So, I woke up at 3am and was hurting a little in my upper abdomen. Thought it was gas and just lay there trying to go back to sleep. It got worse and was so high in my adbomen I thought it might be chest pain. It was all the way across. It went to my upper back and down my right arm and into my throat. It got SO bad I had to get up. EAsed up a little upon sitting. Got up and went to the couch. Well, it would come in waves of really bad pressure/pain and then go away for 5 min or so and come back again. Did this for 5 hours. Now my right side is very sore. I kept thinking maybe gas so I drank hot tea and took gasX. I did burp a lot but it didn't relieve me much. I felt urgency to go to the bathroom but it was just soft stool not diarhea. It was also (tmi sorry) a very pale green color and burned even though it wasn't diarehha.
Other than being very sore on my right mid abdomen and a feeling of a lump in my stomach, I feel better now. Is this anxiety or gallbladder (a friend had hers taken out a few years ago and if I remember right she had similiar symptoms) or something else???

I don't think anyone can say. I think it is important to discuss symptoms with a doctor for a rational perspective, that is different than reassurance seeking. What you described is somewhat reminiscent of what I experienced with gallbladder issus.

It may be gallbladder, GERD or IBS related. I had a client of mine who had severe abdominal pains that went from her very lower
abdomen to her upper abdomen. The pains were so bad, that she ended up in the ER. They ran so many tests on her, that I would need
another forum to list them all. All of the tests were negative and they attributed it all to IBS. It is probably best to call your doctor and
explain what happened to you.

Hope you are feeling better today hypomom. It does sound like it could be any number of things (none of which are horribly serious). I would think back on what you ate and drank before going to bed last night because it very well could have been gas which was then exacerbated by anxiety of being woken up at 3 in the morning. I know that's happened to me before and it always subsided once I was able to calm down. I have some experience with gallbladder issues, although mine were not the "typical" pains you normally read about. But since none of us can say for sure, if you are really concerned I would call your doctor and explain what's going on.

Could really be anything, but as kmwondering said, this sounds somewhat familiar to what I experienced when I had gallbladder issues.  It always struck me as odd that the discomfort would come around 2 a.m. .... ugh.
