Strange dental xray?

I had a dental xray and below one of my teeth is a spot that is the same colour as my other teerh they don't know what it is and I'm getting scared. It's not on the tooth, but below it on what looks like my gum I think. It's the same colour as my normal teeth and its freaking me out. Anyone know what it could be?

Could it be a bone spur?  Anecdote time:  I once grew a sharp, pointy spot on my front gums, that stretched the skin so thin I could feel the bone under it.  It didn't seem to grow or change so I ignored it (I used to have periods of time where I wasn't health crazy!).  Then one day I decided to check its progress and...it had vanished.  It feels like there's some extra skin in that spot, I guess where it was stretched out, but the hard, sharp point is gone.  I still don't know what it was but it matches the description of bone spurs, which can happen on gums, and I think that would make sense in terms of being the same as your teeth on the x-ray.  Just a guess though; I really don't have any expertise in the area!  I've also heard descriptions of "bone cysts" which I think are similar things. 

Anyway, if that's what it is, I doubt it's anything serious, since mine spontaneously resolved one day out of the blue.  What did your dentist think of it?
