The music you relax to
« on: January 14, 2013, 12:00:23 AM »
Hello,

As of now it's an hour to my birthday and I just so happen to be having the typical GAD symptoms that I can't shake. Please share with me the music that can uplift you from these slumps. I would love to have more music on the go to help me when I feel the same at school.

All kinds of EDM, especially female vocal trance.

When I'm feeling good, I also listen to dance music, the real stuff. Armin Van Buuren is my favorite.  It's a wall of sound that keeps me going.

Otherwise, if I'm in the dumps, I have to listen to New Age Ambient music, such as Eluvium.  Or, I like Ambient Shoegaze like Ulrich Schnauss, Jonas Munk, or Hammock. Ulrich Schnauss's music has a very good reputation for lifting the spirit - for those that listen.  These types of music are known to be euphoric. I think it's that aspect that really helps remove me from the anxiety.  For sleep, or late at night, I prefer the Deep Sleep series by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson.

At other times, I find that white noise tracks (can be found on youtube) really help, such as the sound of a water fountain, water fall, rain, or even an oscillating fan.

This is a good post, because interestingly, music has played a definitive role in keeping me sane and getting me through.  I hope it does for you as well.

Thank you

I like Radiohead a lot. Listen to In Rainbows and The King of Limbs on Spotify or YouTube; I think those two are there most relaxing albums. But each album is really different. Listen to How to Disappear Completely, I think Thom York wrote it about the stress of going on tour. Separator is right now my favorite song by them.  "Like I'm falling out of bed from a long and weary dream, Finally I'm free of all the weight I've been carrying"
