Feeling symptoms all day for no reason?
« on: January 13, 2013, 10:59:13 PM »
I don't know much about GAD...but is it normal for you to have GAD symptoms all day, for no reason? Or for them to come on randomly during the day without a trigger?

This is how I have felt almost every day since my first and only panic attack 5 months ago. Until I found this forum, I was constantly paranoid and worried that I had a brain tumor or epilepsy or something crazy because I didn't understand why I felt so weird and out of it all the time after my panic attack....but now I'm thinking it might be NORMAL to experience symptoms without triggers when you have GAD. Am I right?

Some days are worse than others...some days better than most..it's very inconsistent. Some days I will have a weird head pressure and visual changes all day..some days I won't have that, but I'll have tension and twitches/jerks at the back on my neck/base of my head..some days none of that will happen and I'll feel great and happy and then randomly , for NO reason, I'll start to get that sense of impending doom..

SOOO frustrating! No rhyme or reason for any of this sh*t, especially since I have only had ONE panic attack. When I start to feel overwhelmed to the point that I don't think I can calm down, I will take 0.5 mg Ativan (lorazepam aka pretty much the same thing as Xanax) and I will feel fine, or mostly fine, which is what makes me think it's all just anxiety.

So...anyone else get their symptoms for no reason, sometimes all day every day? Knowing I'm not alone in this will definitely ease my crazy mind..

You are definitely not alone. I feel at least minor symptoms all day every day. Usually there isn't even a logical trigger. I sure hope it's normal, because it happens to me too!  ;D

Same here. I usually only have a few days out of a month where I don't experience some sort of physical symptoms. It can last and has lasted all day for me lots of times for no real reason. I always am thinking something is wrong with me but I am able to distinguish when its just anxiety. It sucks and I hate it. Distractions help but sometimes its completely overwhelming. Sometimes I can be really nervous about something for days but not feel crappy until after whatever it is, is over and then a day or two later anxiety symptoms hit me all of a sudden. I understand the frustration.

I honestly cannot remember a day when I had no anxiety since I was diagnosed. If I stay at home alone, I have symptoms 24 hours a day or until I fall asleep. It is a pain to deal with but I have, (maybe wrongly) got used to feeling that way a little bit. It's still REALLY unpleasant but I have taken the path of just dealing with it. I ditched my medication and have tried everything from cutting caffeine completely out of my diet to meditation.

I honestly hope that you find the best way for you to deal with your anxiety. You're not alone by a long shot.

I have the exact same things as you describe. Anxiety is the most difficult thing to deal with, and the constant nagging thoughts are the worst. It wears you out and you feel constantly uneasy. You are so not alone. Maybe for you, trying to find a pattern might help. Also, I have found that when I'm PMSing my anxiety and emotions are magnified 100X. I have taken Ativan in the past and found it to be very helpful until i developed a strange reaction, which you don't have to worry about. Perhaps just increasing a daily medication to keep your levels normal, that may help bring your constant anxiety down a bit. Remember, it is a chemical disorder, you are not to blame for your anxiety. Keep your chin up!
