Food poisoning
« on: January 13, 2013, 08:29:37 PM »
I'm worried about food poisoning :( tonight I took some chicken out of the freezer that had been in there sealed and ran it under hot water to defrost to get the styrofoam off. It didnt work so I left it for maybe 15 mins on the counter. I then bagged it up and went I my bfs house whih is 40 mins away and defrosted it a bit more (still frozen) in the microwave. I accidentally overlooked the edges so I cut them off and cooked like so. Also I made the same trip with frozen Spinich (the box ones) and it had been used to make pizzas about a month to a month and a half ago but was in the freezer in a box and plastic baggy. Do you think I could get food poisoning from this? I'm so worried!

Struggled on and off since I was 13 (27 now) with health anxiety and OCD. Current episode has been going since December 2011. Praying that it will end soon and I can go back to normal life.

More than likely no. But I guess you'll ultimately find out in about 12 hours.

In case anyone is still confused:  googling your symptoms will cause you to remain in a state of extreme anxiety. Stepping away from the internet is the first step toward lasting peace.

No, not likely. The chicken was still frozen. I can't see how you could get food poisening. I assume you cooked everything all the way through. When i was a kid, people used to take meat out of the freezer in the morning and leave it on the counter all day to defrost for dinner.  I'm surprised we survived back then!
