Itching, pain, and numbness in hands/feet?
« on: January 12, 2013, 02:02:58 PM »
About half an hour ago I was just sitting in my room and I noticed that my hands itched and my fingertips hurt a little bit, and then it got progressively worse and spread to my feet. Now my hands don't hurt as much, but they're numb and my hands and feet are incredibly itchy. Is there something wrong with my nerves? Or could anxiety be causing this?

Anxiety can definitely cause that. I experience tingling and pain in my hands, feet, arms, and legs very often and I have no other reasonable cause but anxiety. It happens to a ton of us.

Oh okay, it's reassuring to know I'm not alone haha. Do your hands get really red when they start to hurt?

Bump...I noticed that this happened again after I washed my hands with this soap in the kitchen. I haven't washed my hands with it since and I feel better, but my toes are really itchy still.

if it happens after you wash your hands, consider that it may be caused by your hands being cold. when i get cold, my hands turn red and itch. i have cold urticaria that began during a period of intense stress. it's more of an annoyance than anything  :winking0008:

That actually makes a lot of sense...but can't that be fatal if you're submersed in coldness??

yeah, i have seen a specialist for it and it told me it is really common and also minor. Of course you can google and find all sorts of crazy possibilities for anything, but the itchy hand thing is basically a limited condition that goes away on its own. If it bothers you, try taking loratidine 10 mg over the counter. That will probably make it stop if it is a hive type thing :)
