My Doctor Is An Idiot. I'm Screwed.
« on: January 11, 2013, 09:36:51 PM »
I saw my PCP today.
I made a statement about these small red pin-prick dots on my arms.
I think they are Petichaie (sp?) They appeared shortly after I started weight-lifting and such.
She on the other-hand says that they are NOT Petichaie and insisted that instead, they are Hemangioma(s.)

Bull-crap! I'm so worried about cancer.
My red dots are flat and you can scratch them "off," but they'll reappear.
In other words... blood. That's what they are.

Not these mole-things.
Ugh.

I am starting to feel as if I'm being blown-off.
Like, I'm being misdiagnosed.

These are NOT what she says they are.
I may have looked up on Google Image, but still!

I just pulled my Husband aside and told him that I think I am dying.
I have other "health" issues like, thyroid nodules and an enlarged lymph-node.

:-(

I have cherry angiomas. They can't be scratched off and they are blood red. Some of mine look exactly like petachie. They are not. Most of the Google images show large angiomas, not the tiny ones.

Failed to say most of mine are flat too! Also wouldn't you think that your doctor isn't so stupid as to know the difference? I think your anxiety is causing you to refute what your doctor told you because you have cancer locked into you thought process.

If they blanch, which I think you're describing when you say they come "off" and come back, they're not petechiae.  Petechiae don't blanch.

But even if they are, well, you've probably done some very minor damage while lifting weights because you're just starting out.  I get petechiae allllll the time, for no real reason.  My doctor just told me to ignore them.

No, you can literally scratch them off and they will reappear (it's blood 100%)
Also, if I pinch around the area... a little more comes to surface.

Petechiae are under the surface of the skin; can't be scratched off.  Sounds like your doctor is right.

They can be scratched off when you scratch hard enough.
The blood is at the surface of the skin, so it doesn't take much.
When pinched, more blood comes to the surface.

She is trying to tell me that they are pretty much little "moles."
They're not.

They just started appearing on both of my arms after weight-lifting.

They look exactly like a bursted blood vessel, or whatever.
I'm just venting and irritated.

I really do appreciate the advice and such.
Thanks. :-)

Just, as a hypochondriac, it seems to always be the worst thing.

So you're going to go against the word of a HIGHLY TRAINED PROFESSIONAL because you saw a picture on Google images. Alright.

Listen, it is NOT within your doctor's best interest to "blow you off" if you truly had what she thought was a legitimate problem. Not only is so (most likely) concerned with you health, but she has things like malpractice to worry about, too.

In case anyone is still confused:  googling your symptoms will cause you to remain in a state of extreme anxiety. Stepping away from the internet is the first step toward lasting peace.

sounds to me like you are trying to be the doctor.

if so, there is no need to go to the real ones. since, it seems, she isn't agreeing with your diagnosis anyway.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Dude, stop scratching your skin off!  That can't be helping!
