Middle of the Night Attacks
« on: May 11, 2006, 02:46:22 AM »
I havent been able to sleep through an entire night for about 2 weeks now. I think that this is due to middle-of-the-night panic attacks (to varying degree - some horrible, some just waking up and feeling "off"), and the fact that my body is so used to waking up at 4:00 am now! No matter how early I go to bed (or if I take a little Klonopin, a bath, tea, journal about my day, or any combo of the above before sleep...) I can't seem to break the cycle.

Has anyone had any success getting through this? It's really starting to interfere with my job - I'm just physically exhausted! It's also so difficut to keep this all in perspective at night...though my heart is beating irregurarly and quickly right now, and I know that this has happened a lot before...it's nearly impossible to keep my fears in check at this hour!

S.O.S.! I need a good nights sleep! :(

Maybe a pill when you do wake up will help you calm down enough to go back to sleep faster.  Are you on an antidepressant?  you should ask your doctor?

there is "Melatonin"  found in health food store...it makes your body produce more Melatonin that it normally makes to fall asleep...take one when you wake up?

I'm new here so please bare with me. I use to have nightime panic attacks.  I would wake up out of my sleep with a full blown ,feeling like I can't breath panic. I am so free of this now and sleeping great at night. I've started this therapy called EEG and neurofeedback. I have my life back and doing better every day. I 'm very sensitive to meds so I can't take them and this is a great alternitive. My story is on the panic advice sight. After 4 sessions with this therapy I haven't had one panic attack. The great thing is that I did it without meds. Please check this therapy out! It would help alot of people!  I hope this helps you .  I tried to put the webb sight up for this therapy but it kicks it off.

If you want natural sleep aids, St.johns wort, Valerian root(as Kiara stated) and melotonin.

I have melatonin here and havent tried it.  Just like anxiety meds, it says depression for a side effect so I just worried as usual.  I wonder if it could help enough with my sleep for me to try it....

mmmm tylenol pm I wouldn't suggest. My ex-GF's friend was addicted to that stuff. She kept having to up her dosages each night  to get a good nights sleep. She ended up going through a bottle a week. It's just from personal experiences that i say no to tylenol pm because I've heard of what its done to people I knew
