Update on breast lump appointment
« on: January 11, 2013, 07:10:39 AM »

 HI Folks,

So the last week I was absolutely horrible for anxiety. Perhaps because it has been months since my last episode, I handled this last one like it was all brand new.

Anyway, had a lump, got it looked at. It's benign. Either a little cyst or a fibroadenoma or nodularity, but whatever it is it is NOT SERIOUS. Doc was very reassuring, he's referred me just to confirm what it is, but said the apt might not be right away because there's nothing serious to investigate. Said to stop poking it, stop worrying and have NO fear.

Good news:

1. I didn't imagine it!
2. I got reassured and I WILL ACCEPT THE DIAGNOSIS.
3. NOT SERIOUS.
4. Doc said that increased anxiety after finding a lump is OK. He said that it was understandable and not to beat myself up for it.

and 5. Now I can move on, get it checked out as a formality in a few weeks time, but understanding that that is nothing to be afraid of, and then if I feel something similar in future I'll have gained greater awareness.

 :laugh3: great news!

i also very often imagine lumps and bumps in many different places, unfortunaly the last time i had a breast lump scare my doctor was less than understanding about it and practically laughed at me! he refused to even look at my breast and said i was too young to be worrying about breast cancer! im pleased to say i have since changed doctors! its a good job most medical profesional have better people skills than that guy!

Yup - well I have to accept the diagnosis - I can't go down the route of questioning it. I am just going to get back in the saddle and keep working on it. Get exercising again, focus on good sleep and seeing people :)

The Dalai Lama, was most surprised by Man.He sacrifices his health to make money. He sacrafices money for his health,he is so anxious about the future so he does not enjoy the present, he does not live in the present or the future,he thinks he will never die, then he dies having never lived.
