Loose stools!!!
« on: January 10, 2013, 07:31:58 PM »
So I am still having consistant loose stools and its driving me crazy.  I recently had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and both were clear (only mild gastritis).  I really thought that this would all go away after the tests with the GI doc.  If I take immodium im ok for a day or two but then straight back to loose stools after that.  I am at my wits end with this.  I really dont want to be put through more tests but I have to wonder if there is something wrong in my small intestine that wasn't picked up with the Colonoscopy or Endoscopy.  Am I just being a stress head and causing this?????

I've had ibs my entire adult life. I manage well currently with peppermint tea and probiotics. I've used an antispasmodic prescribed by my GI in the past with success. Anxiety is absolutely involved for me.

My ibs, I believe, is fully caused by my anxiety. Times of really hard stress make my bowels a nightmare.

Anyone else?  I am really worried about my small intestines.  They say diarrhea is a symptom of small intestinal cancer!

The only time I've taken that perfect crap, you know the one, the hefty kind, bear style, in the last year was when I hiked the grand canyon and then drank half a bottle of wine. I was too tired and relaxed to be my usual freaked out self. At some level, your tension is playing merry hell with your guys. Mine does too. And does small intestine cancer even exist anymore? Come on, you're fine. You know it deep down inside.

Loose stools are the #1 symptom of anxiety for me.  My stomach is a mess this week with my upcoming endoscopy!

ckm_18 .... interesting that several people replied with "ibs symptoms" and yet you're still asking "anyone?" as if hoping that someone will say "yes!  it's cancer!".  The perils of HA .....

I, too, have suffered from IBS for decades.  Probably had it before they had a name for it.  It can go between diarrhea and constipation and everything in between.  Stress-induced, absolutely.  You might want to look into addressing and learning how to manage stress in your life.

Thanks for the replies everyone and Linda you are totally correct I do need to address the stress in my life.  I have always thought IBS but I dont get alot of the common symptoms of it.  I only have loose stool once a day and it is not after I eat its first thing of a morning.  My stools go back to normal if I take Immodium.  The pains I get are also very low down in the pelvis and not where I thought the usual IBS pains would be.  I guess I will just conclude that this is IBS and not something serious.
