Headache lasting a few days?
« on: January 10, 2013, 01:25:35 PM »
I've had a headache for probably the last 5 days. It really travels all over my head. Then sometimes it's in both temples. I'm thinking it might have to do with the fact that I don't start class until the 28th, so i sit around doing nothing but watching TV and playing on the computer. I don't have any other symptoms (knock on wood) with my headache. I guess I'm a little curious if I should be worried about a headache that lasts a few days??

If someone else was asking the question, do you think they should be worried about a wandering headache?

Do yourself a favor. Turn off the TV and get away from the computer. Go do something with your hands (cook, clean, knit, garden, build a puzzle, DIY project, whatever). Getting the mind AND body engaged in a singular activity will help focus and center the brain and make you less prone to a) notice normal body aches and pains, and b) freak out about them.

In case anyone is still confused:  googling your symptoms will cause you to remain in a state of extreme anxiety. Stepping away from the internet is the first step toward lasting peace.

You definitely need to do other things besides sitting in front of the computer or watching TV. You are straining your eyes, neck, shoulders and back doing this. All of that strain causes headaches and yes, they can last several days. My last migraine left me with a headache for about a week and still to this day, I will get random pains around the same area of my head. My husband had a headache some time ago that lasted for more than a week. Some people have chronic headaches that just don't go away except for one or two days a week. Go outside and take a walk, clean, organize, craft, just find something else to do to give your head a rest.

I just recently had a borderline migraine for over week.  Tension, neck, shoulders in ears.  :-) caused it for me mostly.

Thank you everyone! I've tried to stay busy, and actually do stuff! I'm getting worried though, the headache is more on my left side now. Now I'm terrified of a brain anyersum. Why would it last for so long and be mainly on the left side??

90% of my headaches occur on the only one side.  so, freakin' what!!!

my nephews girlfriend just went through MRI testing and what not because she has months long headaches.  Ya, she has migraines.  Doc just tweaked the meds.

you know headaches are most often caused by tension, stress, anxiety, tight muscles.....  not those uncommon things like aneurysms.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

It's very likely not going away because you're thinking and worrying about it constantly. Headaches and HA are like a Catch 22-situation when put together.

A headache which moves all over the head (even if it's predominantly on the left side) sounds 100% like a tension headache caused by muscle tension and stress. I'd bet that all the extra sitting at the TV and Computer over the past few days, in addition to the worry, has your back and shoulder muscles in a crazy spasm. This can manifest as headaches which last a long time.

"Brain aneurysm" is your HA talking - just type "Headache" into the search box on this website to see how many people are or were in the same situation as you!!

Try to relax - you're completely OK!
