boyfriend anxiety... please help
« on: January 10, 2013, 12:25:34 PM »
I need help... I'm going crazy. my boyfriend is in California for a month (we live in Massachusetts) he's visiting family and my anxiety is going insane. I am afraid he isn't going to come back and I am afraid he's going to break up with me. I know i'm being irrational. He called me every couple hours on his drive there and he promised he was going to be back for my graduation on February 2nd. plus he said he wants to move in with me when he gets back. but now that hes there im scared he wont come back. i told him that i was worried and depressed, but now when i talk to him on the phone now he sounds different, almost like he's aggravated with me. I dont want to lose him, but i dont know what to do to keep him... please help i hate worrying about this! it's driving me insane... i cant eat, i have no motivation at all. I just hate not knowing if he's going to come back or not. I'm having suicidal thoughts.

Hi Sammy,

I am sorry that you are in situation of distress over your boyfriend being in California.  It is tough to see a loved one gone for such a long period of time even more when you are in a period of your life with a great deal of unknowns.  Please be mindful that your stress may also be coming from graduating soon which opens up many questions about what is next.  To keep your mind at ease it may be worth your time to talk with this issue about close friends and let them know you are concerned.  They may be able to provide some insight that you may have overlooked.

In your message you mentioned you spoke with him over the phone and he sounded different.  Have you thought about trying 0366/google talk where you may see his face in addition to hearing his voice.  It may help to see his facial expressions and may offer a more comfortable conversation.

Please look into ways of overcoming your fear of losing him.  He may be an awesome person but you need to take more time to look after yourself.  Find others or resources to build your self esteem and find some strength knowing no matter the situation you will make it through just fine.  I believe when people take care of themselves the other things in their lives will eventually fall into place.
