Anxiety and irregular heartbeat?

Does Anxiety cause irregular heartbeat enough for a blood pressure monitor to detect?  I have been doing really well since September. Today is my quarterly Dr.s appt. for my blood pressure check.  I checked it like crazy this morning and twice the irregular heartbeat sign came up.  Now I'm freaking out.

Are you supposed to be checking your blood pressure at home? Do you have a certain medical condition (aside from hypochondria) that requires you to check it? I think you're just nervous about the doc and your anxiety is kicking in. Irregular heartbeats and palpitations happen with anxiety all the time. I get my BP checked by my doctor once a year at my physical and that's it!

What do you mean you "checked it like crazy?" Shouldn't checking it once suffice (or three time and taking the average)?
