Pretty incredible stuff!
« on: January 10, 2013, 01:45:05 AM »
As some of you know, I have a back issue that gives me tingling feet. Well, I have recently stopped thinking about it in obsessing ways. What do you know? The tingling is about 20x better since I stopped obsessing.
It often goes away entirely when my mind is calm, and it does happen when I walk, but this is a back problem.

Incredible.
A lot of you will find that your symptoms are just amplified. Like, this is a normal level of physical sensation to the brain. And now, this is YOUR brain thinking about its physical symptoms.

When you magnify anything, you will make it hell.
I could tell you to think about your left pinky. Just think about it, all day. Then I could tell you 'hey, doesn't it hurt? Just picture the joints hurting. Picture the skin being bruised on that pinky. Picture how it would feel if you slammed it into a door.' and all of a sudden, jee, your pinky sorta hurts!
Now, keep obsessing over it. For WEEKS. All of a sudden, your previously totally normal pinky finger is numb, hurts, tingles, burns... why? because of your brain!

I will endure any pain, as long as it has meaning.

You got it!  As I like to say, when we pay fearful attention to symptoms, it amplifies them.

.... with the emphasis, of course, on the word "fearful."
