Right, I'm new so I had a look in The Lounge to see if there was anything recent about soccer. All I got was football! The American kind at that! lol. So I thought I'd ask everyone what sports they follow and what teams. I'll start!

Soccer: FC Barcelona
Football (NFL): Bengals
College Football: O-H-I-O
Hockey: Bluejackets

My absolute favorite athlete ever is Brian McBride, a soccer player who played for Columbus Crew, Chicago Fire, Everton and Fulham. But I love Lionel Messi, Xavi, Chicharito, and Donovan (all soccer players).

So who does everyone support and what players do you love?

What about Gaelic football and hurling? Come on now. Two real games. No padding needed. We take the knocks as they come. The auld clash of the ash. I am from Dublin. So no doubt Dublin is my team. The hurling team have been doing good these past few years. They have surprised us all as we are not a hurling county.

Soccer wise I am an Spurs fan. Always have been. Can't really say much about the Irish national team at the moment. Only they are pure muck.

Other than that I love watching MMA. The UFC. Only other sport I would watch.

When am I not out of sync? Never, I think. Here I believe it is because I did not grow up with any sports watching but participated in running contests in which I did quite well, considering the circumstances.

So I think it is much more fun to participate in any sport (volleyball, badminton, soft ball, tennis, ping pong, etc.) than sitting around watching others. Sorry about this. If I think of someone I'll return. Believe I did root for the Giants because they are in SF where my daughter is a big fan.

Tottenham, huh? You and Alan Sugar... I'm a Barca girl but my partner is all about man utd. at least we can beat them - any most teams that actually have a go at playing the game. Not a fan of Gaelic or Hurling. I don't really understand them. I also have a passionate hatred for cricket. It bewilders me to no end lol.

I'll return for a moment to say that while I actually never saw Andy Murray play, I was very impressed with him as a person when he was interviewed.

Test match cricket should be banned. It can put a person into a coma for life.  :laugh3: One day cricket is a little bit more exciting. The made up a new set of rules. To make cricket exciting. Mind you they could hardly make it any more bloody boring. But in the Twenty, Twenty games you have to score as quickly as you can. As there is only Twenty overs to do your scoring in. They made a circle on the pitch. You are only allowed a few players outside that circle. Basics are players go for sixes all the time. Instead of the old boring tapping the ball and not even trying to score. Mind you I still wouldn't watch it even if you payed me. Only game I watched was when Ireland got England in the cricket world cut. England were favourites to hammer us and we only went and beat them. Ireland is not a cricket nation. Was the biggest shock in cricket history in years. We love playing our neighbours at any game at all. Even better when we win.

I'm a fan of Real madrid, but enjoy watching any professional team play!  Most of my soccer-watching happens during the world cup, though.

Zidane gave me the most laughs with his out-going head-butt to the chest.

I'm really excited about the growth in women's soccer, especially after Canada's success at the Olympics.  I had to stop playing soccer on my women's team a couple years ago because my knees were not so great, but still enjoy coaching my 14 year old son's team.  :)
