A question about Zofran
« on: January 09, 2013, 03:29:55 AM »
  Hey everybody!  :action-smiley-065:

I have a interesting question about Zofran or Ondansetron.  Well first off my PCP perscribed it to me.  4 mg.  Since I got a fear fo getting sick, can you take this medicine if you would get a stomack virus?  I was reading around yes you can.  Did anyone try it?  If you did how do you take it in that situation and how did it work out?

  Thanks.

I am kinda confused on what you're asking. Are you asking if you can take Zofran when you get sick, like with the stomach flu or something? Then yes. I got norovirus (severe stomach flu) after a cruise and the doctor prescribed Zofran to me for nausea. I didn't vomit anymore after taking it but I'm not sure if it was from the medicine or if I was getting better anyway.

Yes, antidepressants can, indeed must be taken daily irrespective of whatever physical ills you may develop. There are very few diseases that are adversely affected by them, or that they affect.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
