Worst fear of appendicitis and surgery!
« on: January 09, 2013, 01:24:04 AM »
So let me just start off with saying that I am almost 8 weeks post partum. 22 hours of natural labor with 2nd degree tears.
ok so a few days ago I started getting some pelvic pain thats was a throbbing off and on pain in my vagina area. now for two days ive had a dull pain on my right side that goes to my back and had off and on throbbing dull ache in my lower right abdomen area ( thinking is was an ovarian cyst ) and freaked me out! Today I had an OB appointment and she said everything looked good! so I asked her what should I do about the throbbing ache in my abdomen and she was like " well ... maybe you should go to the ER and get checked out" .. not the exact words i wanted to here since for months I have had this fear of getting appendicitis ( Im deathly afraid of surgery and being put to sleep and not waking up ) So I went to the ER and told them my symptoms *note: I am not in any severe pain* Had pelvic exam, blood work done, ultrasound of uterus and appendix and all was normal. So I asked the doctor what could the pain be then? He said " oh! it could be all sorts of things but id have to write you a book to explain them all" then he released me. Im still not in any severe pain but my stomach just aches and my right side pelvic and hip bone throb as well as my back right side with off and on nausea. I am scare to death that it will be appendicitis later on something that I will have to be put to sleep for.
I dont know what else to do. :(

Well, two doctors have said that you are ok, so likely you are fine! You are just having anxiety. . . Believe me, if your apendix were giving you grief, you'd be happy to have it out! I found that once I had my son, all sorts of weird things happened to my body due to normal changes, lack of sleep, and just starting my new job as a mom! Be kind to yourself.

Yep, I remember feeling pretty awful after my babies were born -- with physical aches and pains -- your body has been through a lot, it could just be muscular.  And emotionally -- sleep deprivation and hormones contribute to that!

Two doctors have said you're fine.  Trust in that and try to relax.  Are you sleeping?  Eating?  Taking some time for yourself each day?  That's all very important as a new mom.

Thank you for your reply's
This is my first child so I don't really know what to expect with the aches and pains going on :sick0002: especially since the doc said since im 7 or 8 weeks post partum that i should be all healed up by now yet my bp still is elevated and my hormones are all out of wack so that didn't make any sense to me.
I havent been getting to much sleep since the baby was born. I get maybe 5 hours of sleep sometimes 2 hours. It depends on the day. My husband works and night and the baby likes to be up at night most of the time and i cant get my body to adjust to sleeping in the day time. All sorts of things are happening to my body and its just crazy! I have a follow up appointment with my doctor tomorrow for blood tests and to find out whats causing my stomach and back pain.
