Random Quick Pain in chest, lose my breath?
« on: January 08, 2013, 03:47:40 PM »
Sometimes I will randomly get this quick jolt of pain in my chest for a split second, and I lose my breath and feels like my heart skips.

Almost like someone jumping out of a corner and scaring you. Its completely random and happens a few more times after that, I feel uneasy the whole time too.

While it is probably nothing, if in doubt get it checked out. Sometimes we have the tendency to assume all physical symptoms are caused by our anxiety because they always have been in the past, however, we are as prone to real physical illnesses as anyone else.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.

It sounds exactly like anxiety. I've had that feeling many times before. After a while you are able to see it for what it is - just a quick jolt of anxiety and hypersensitivity to you heartbeat. Try not to let it get to you and carry on with whatever you were doing. Accept it and move forward. Don't feed it with fearful thoughts. See it as something that simply happens sometimes. I get palpitations often and they don't bother me at all.
