Sunburnt ahhh :(

I am currently
On holidays and recieved a burnt shoulder and where the part is on my hair. This is my first sunburn in about 2 years and I'm now stressing about this causing melanoma... I have a skin cancer fear and have quite a few moles myself that I get checked regularly at the dermatologist. I know there is nothing I can do about it now I'm jut angry at myself because I always put sunscreen on and lots of it! I obviously missed a spot and am now regretting going to the beach (Australia holiday)

I've been there!  The fact that you normally practice safe sun care (correct?) says a lot.  The fact that you're aware of your skin is good.  I had the same happen to me two years ago down on the Georgia Coast.  I am normally VERY diligent about sun screen...but for whatever reason I didn't apply enough or maybe I should have reapplied...but I took a stroll on the beach and when I got back to the condo my shoulders were red and burned.  It was the first sun burn I've had in ages...and I was really, really mad at myself!  It was like: how can I be so careful and then be so careless??  You just have to get over it.  Chalk it up to a mistake.  Stay up on your self-checks and your routine doctor checks and you'll be fine.
