Metabolism test for meds?

I thought I read somewhere that there is a test that can be taken to see what drugs you body can metabolize. Has anyone ever heard if this? I have tried multiple drugs in every category for my depression/anxiety, and they all have very nasty side effects - concerning enough after a week that my doc makes me stop. Unfortunately, the only drug that works is amytriptolin, but despite cutting back on my intake and increasing exercise from day one, I have gained 20 pounds in one year (I stayed the same weight for 25 years before that). I'm tempted to try other drug again, but not the side effects again.

While there have been reports of tests that could determine which antidepressants are likely to be most effective for an individual from time to time, unfortunately, none have made it onto the market.
