Melatonin and anxiety

do you think it has a positive or negative affect on anxiety? tried to do a little research on the topic but so far nothing significant.

i use it for sleep due to (obviously) anxiety induced insomnia, but i either get knocked into paralysis (scary as HELL) or just really trippy closed eye visuals

Low dose melatonin works well for me when I have difficulty falling asleep.  Maybe your dose is too high.

Low doses of melatonin with chamomile tea work well for me when my anxiety has really taken hold. I agree with gcalex, maybe your dose is too high.

i usually take about 3mg on a bad night, my tablets are 1.5mg each
what are your normal dosages?

Our body already produces melatonin - it helps to REGULATE our sleep.

We can take it and if we're producing enough, it won't do a bit of good (been there, done that).  My husband swears by it - he takes 3 mg with theanine. The theanine is what can reduce your anxiety, but not all melatonin has the theanine in it.

hmm, i'll look into theanine and see if any suppliments are available. it sounds promising.
though i dont want to rely on pills, narcotic or otherwise, i did that before my anxiety started and dont feel like going back to that. lol

Much less.  Like .5 mg.
