Waiting on results
« on: January 07, 2013, 06:16:46 PM »
So I had my scrotal/testicular ultrasound on Friday. I was told it would be probably mid week before I got results. I didn't really think about it much or have any anxiety over the weekend. Today the doctors office called the phone and left a message asking me to call them back but I didn't get the message til after they were already closed. I'm thinking that they must of found something wrong to be calling back so quick when I was told it'd probably be midweek. My anxiety skyrocketed all at once. :( I'm trying to stay calm though.

Try and stay calm ... there is not a thing you can do at this point, so why get stressed over it.

Did you ask your doc about hydroceles?  Not sure if you remember my prior post.

Staying calm is the best thing you can do. Try not to get your self worked up before you even know your results!

The lady who did the scan said that is one of the things they look for. Thanks for the replies ya'll. I went to a birthday party tonight and then came home and made spaghetti. I'm doing alright, not freaking out or anything.

I finally got ahold of my doctors office this afternoon. The lady there said the results were 'unremarkable' which from what I have read means normal in doctor talk. I'm relieved and confused all at the same time. I kind of hoped they'd atleast find a cyst so I'd know what the thing I found is, but I guess maybe it isn't anything. I figure after it being there for at least 4 month that if it was testicular cancer like I was worried about that the ultrasound would show that, so I'm hoping that means I'm good.

I think that sounds like good news!  Take a deep breath.  If it had been anything of concern...they would not have called it unremarkable.

It's easy to be confused on something like this.  If, indeed, it is a hydrocele, they can feel like a cyst or tumor.  The good news is that they are completely benign, quite common (most men have them, but don't know it) AND your body easily absorbs them.  Interesting story here is that my youngest son had swelling like you and what felt like a tumor.  Classic symptoms for testicular cancer and he was in the right age group - urologist immediately sent him in for an ultrasound, twice in fact.  Bad news is that the second ultrasound was misread by the radiologist - he had an unnecessary surgery and they found nothing (hydrocele absorbed). But, that's another story for another day. ;-)

Well that sounds like 'fun', to get a surgery you don't need.  :sprachlos020: I honestly don't think I've had swelling atleast not that I've noticed. Sometimes it feels bigger, but that is when the teste isn't relaxed and all the tubes and stuff are bunched up. When I'm laying in the bed, warm and what not, it has felt normal sized and not hard or anything. I've told myself I'm going to put this worry out of my head. If it was something bad, especially being there for 4 months or more then it would of showed up on the ultrasound. It could be a hydrocele, or it could be something related to my epididymis because the place I felt was/is right next to my epididymis.
