Feelind detached, anybody?
« on: January 07, 2013, 04:15:45 PM »
Hello all,

When I think about me, about my anxiety sometimes I feel detached, not real, but when I am busy and I do something I don't have this strange feeling.

Is feeling detached an anxiety symptom?

Thanks.

YES!!! big time, it is my worst symptom when anxiety rears its ugly head.....but here is what I have come to believe is the reason

When we are feeling the detached/unreality/depersonaliztion/derealization symptom it is because we are so focused on ourselves and the way we feel that the brain's majority resources are being used to attempt to analyze and process all of our thoughts and worries we are doing at the time and  the rest of the world is being interpreted but not at the level in which we are used to because the brain is on overdrive with our issues at hand.

When the outside world is creating a lot of action and scenarios (i.e. We are busy) the brain is processing that information which creates a feeling of normal reality, because our worries are not affecting the brain's capacity to process.

That is just my opinion it is not a fact but what I believe is the reason behind it.  You will get past this and feel better once again!
