body aches and joint pain concerned...Leukemia????
« on: January 07, 2013, 10:12:45 AM »
Hi I know that I have posted about something similar and i dont mean to sound like a broken record but I am highly concerned and scared...I am 22 weeks pregnant, but ever since I turned 18 weeks I have been experiencing body aches like in my upper back and shoulders as well as joint pain in my wrists and knees. I am terrified that this could be the beginining of Leukemia my last blood test said that my WBC were 11 which is borderline high but still within normal range according to my doctor. But prior to this blood test I had a stomach infection and my WBC were 15...This has been the begining cause of my anxiety, I know that its a good sign that my WBC have dropped and not gone up, but I am still terrified! My doctor keeps telling me its normal and all this body ache and joint pain is due to a hormone called relaxin, but I have a hard time believing her, becasue every pregnant person that I ask says that they never experienced this...then why am I this must not be normal!!  This constant body ache and joint pain feels horrible like I am 80 years old and I am only 29! Please help Has anybody else who has been pregnant experienced the same body aches and joint pain? Please respond I dont want to feel this way i just want to enjoy the pregnancy but I cant cuz I am so consumed with fear!

I have been pregnant 7 times, three earth babies, and one in the womb as we speak. Every time I have gotten aches and pains and HURT! With my last baby I ached so badly I felt about 80 too! It hurt to move some days, and I was even on bed rest for a bit. Your doc is right. Relaxin play a huge role and can totally cause all these symptoms you are facing. Just because you have polled others and they have never had it doesn't mean it isn't true! Your doctor is spot on and has seen hundreds of cases, and you are asking a small sample. Your WBC are proof that your immune system is working, and yes, good news that it is going back down!

Thank you Sighnomore your post helped me out. I was just wondering when did the aching start? was it around the second trimester? Mine started the 18th week. I just wish I had more energy becasue worrying about these aches and pains is stressing me out and making me tired. Did you ever worry about these aches and pain? I know that your right about the WBC being good since its going down but good old hypochondria wont let me see it that way. =( did you soak in the tub with epsom salt or just warm water alone? I hope I can keep posting to you since I feel so alone during this time. Thank you!

I was about 15 weeks or so. I am 16, almost 17 with this pregnancy, and so far no joint pain, but I am having back pain from my shifting weight and posture. I would soak in just plain water and Epsom salts a few times a week. It allowed my mind and body to relax and took the pressure points off! Also, make sure you are sleeping with a pillow between your knees. That can help take some of the stress off as well.

Of course you can post to me! I know how beasty likes to keep us ramped up! I am dealing with an issue myself that has me in a panic. Trying to not let it get to me!
