Sass trust me. I now that fear all to well. You have said to me that because I have had them so long you think I am most likely ok. When will you feel that way about yourself! I never got relief until recently.

I don't know how long it'll be before I can relax about it all. I also have the fear about the lump on my liver that they think is a hemangioma but was put on the report as "most likely" a hemangioma so there's the fear that it's liver cancer. But my doctor is happy with the report and won't send me for further tests on it, even though I read you can only definitively diagnose hemangioma on an MRI.

I have got to the point where I'm just waiting for the axe to fall and to find out what the fatal disease is whether liver cancer or some other hideous cancer that is causing these night sweats. It's hard to be positive when you're convinced you're dying.

I've been following your posts on this because I've been going thru the same thing too recently.  I haven't been to the doc about it because I'm telling myself it's that I've got too many covers on at night or it's somehow related to my menstrual cycle.  I get the same thing you ladies seem to be describing.  Not classic night sweats, but waking up in the middle of the night with my chest damp.  I frequenly wake up now checking myself to see if I've been sweating.  Going through this is mental torture and I just wanted you to know you aren't alone in this symptom and your worries.  I've got to think, if so many of us have this, it's from something benign. :)

Hi ladies! I think the night sweats really are hormonal. Here is my story. Back in April I started getting night sweats after reading that they are a symptom of Lymphoma (Lymphoma being my ultimate fear!). The sweats lasted about 4 weeks. Ive had them nearly every night. I was waking up all sweaty and cold. Then they just went away. I was convinced then that they were caused by my anxiety. But 2 weeks ago I started taking contraceptive pills  and after taking 3-4 pills I started feeling sick and the night sweats came back. I stopped the pill then and the sweats are gone too... And now, thinking about my sweats in April - around that time my period was over a week late (normally I'm very regular)... So now I think that hormonal changes (late period/pill) are definitely causing the sweats. And the hormonal changes don't have to be huge to cause them. I had my hormones tested recently and to my suprise they were fine. So I'm sure that hormones do change and even little changes can be noticed in our bodies.

I appreciate you chiming in. My thing with the sweats though is that they are almost every single night almost all month long. So to me that doesn't seem hormonal. I am not on (and was not on) any BC pills. I am pregnant now so that could account for some of it, but I started this well before becoming pregnant. Mine do not seem to correspond to my cycle, etc.

What's so frustrating about HA, is that we can all sit here and say we get night sweats and realize that it is not likely all of us have something sinister going on, yet in the back of our minds we are all thinking..."but what if it is something bad."  I wish that our rational minds would do more of the thinking for us, instead of our crazed, panic, anxiety thoughts.....just my rant about HA for today.  Here's hoping we all have a sweat-free night tonight!

So true, HA sucks. I'm convinced that in my case it's something bad, that the doctors have just fobbed me off because they couldn't find the cause and unfortunately nothing can change the way I think about it, I'm basically just waiting for the major symptoms to kick in when it's going to be too late to treat it :(. I don't get any sweat free nights which is another reason I think it's something bad.

I'm thinking we need to start a special support group for those of us that sweat at night!   :laugh3:  I don't know if it's hormonal or not, but at glancing through the thread, aren't most of us females?  (my apologies to the men that chimed in that I accidentally overlooked).

Yes I think most of us are female. Mine started suddenly a few months ago I went to the doctor and he gave me a full blood workup and a chest and abdo CT. My hormone test came back normal as did all my other blood tests. My CTs had incidental findings of them of fluid round my heart which my cardiologist said was so small he wasn't concerned and doesn't want to see me again and a lump on my liver which they thought was a cyst but after having an ultrasound they said was most likely a hemangioma. It's the most likely that worries me as it leaves room for it to be cancer in my eyes so I'm worried my night sweats are liver cancer and that by the time I get any other symptoms it'll be too late. My doctor refuses to do any more tests though even though both he and an oncologist/general physician don't know what is causing the sweats. The oncologist said the sweats would be drenching if it were cancer but I've read online that that isn't always the case.

My sweats seem to be getting worse instead of better. I am at my wits end with this! I was very, very wet last night. Even my husband agreed. I am so, so scared!

Argh, just yesterday I said (on sighnomore's post) that might night sweats had stopped for the last little while...well what do you think happened last night?? You got it! The inside of the front of my sweatshirt was wet when I woke up...argh!!!

Is this my ridiculous mind playing a nasty trick on me?

I'm pretty certain it's not anxiety for me, it started when I was actually doing really well with my anxiety. Also my doctor didn't think it was anxiety causing it, he thinks it's possibly hormonal, though isn't sure as my hormone tests were normal.

I don't know what to make of mine. My sweating was less severe last night. I hope mine is just anxiety, but I fear the worst. Trying to hope for the best. Just ready to move past this.

Colls ugh! Although if you were wearing a sweatshirt I could see why you would sweat. I sweat wearing a tank top :(

Daily sweat status report: mine was better last night than the night previous. Stay tuned.

Ps - my parents gave us a set of sheets made with bamboo (?) for Christmas, and I find they are really great for keeping cool.

Still sweaty :(
It wasn't awful, but me legs and chest were sweaty.

Question: when you wake up does the sweat seem to immediately start to disappear?

When I wake up it does start to disappear yes. It takes a few minutes though as I'm usually pretty wet, but if I get out of bed to go to the bathroom it goes very quickly.
