Last night at 3am I woke up with intense shaking and chills. I mean really bad. I first though it was me getting the flu as my wife currently has it. Clearly this was not. My wife took my temp and it was actually below normal. Like 97! Usually chills are accompanied with a high temp.

My wife looked things up and found this is a symptom of a panic attack. Now I have dealt with Anxiety and Panic my whole life. I never had this happen. Perhaps some shaking during previous episodes but it was always accompanied by anxiety/panic (worry, bad thought etc). I was pretty calm last night.

So what the hell was this?

It sounds like your body is trying to fight the flu.  That's exactly how my husband knows he's trying to fight something--intense chills and shaking.  And if your wife has the flu..... My whole house is sick too with it!

It is not uncommon for someone who has persistent anxiety to experience physical symptoms without actual mental anxiety. I myself often have numb or cold hands, twitching, lump in my throat etcedera when I am not anxious at all, even if I'm otherwise very relaxed! If you don't have a fever, I don't think it's likely your body is trying to fight an infection.

There is no question of anxiety or any other problem except a few common problems. Basically, the flu spreads in the whole family when you become prey because the germs spread in family like lightening.
