Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anybody here has or had this?
It's basically a weird "numbing" feeling on my lower right rib. It's not something I would consider pain, but a strange sensation. It's like that area is becoming numb or slightly getting tighter.
The strange thing is it only happens whenever I am in particular positions. One is that when I lay in bed on my right side and the other one is when I bend over for more than 10 seconds. The sensation almost immediately disappears when I sit in other positions other than the mentioned ones.
Another thing is: I had definitely had this in 2011. It lasted for about 2-3 months. I fought it hard by just ignoring it and it went away for quite some time. It was only until 3 days ago that I discovered that it has returned.
I don't know if it's muscular or something to do with my eating habits/indigestion? I mean when I first had this in 2011 I was recovering from indigestion. It has been 2 weeks as well since I returned to my poor eating habits (eating late and only twice a day) because I came home for Christmas.
I'm anxious that it could be about my liver! And I'm scared that it could be some tumor or gallbladder issues. My friend said that gallbladder issues aren't like this since he said they you are supposed to have "attacks" which are really painful. I don't have that fortunately.
Anyone had this?
Read some of my recent posts on rib pain/numbness, sensations. While this is a common anxiety problem, it is often either dismissed or blown out of proportion by doctors, because major organs are located on the right side of the upper right quadrant of the body. A couple of posts back I try to explain what the emotional effects cause to the anatomical body parts to people who are prone to this type of stress. Just as some people get migraines, some get rib and upper back pain. Try, try, try to accept the dx of anxiety -- if you have had anything pathological or structural ruled out, because the muscles and nerves effected by this are very sensitive and can cause a chain reaction of muscles and nerves that will, literally, twist your torso into a pretzel, causing you pain you cannot even imagine and which no pain pill will touch. Your torso, unlike maybe a knee or even a leg, cannot rest, so if you do not accept the anxiety dx you will ramp up your fear an emotion to such a state that it will take a long, long time to unwind. I'm not trying to scare you; I am only trying to make you accept what so many of us early on do not-- that emotions alone-- anger, fear, etc.-- can cause physical symptoms, and that yours (lucky you) manifest in the URQ. Just don't Google this. You will find thousands of posts on every type of forum -- and I have read them all-- and, as the previous poster mentioned, most undergo test after test with no conclusive results. The only ones who rid themselves of this are the very few on those forums who understand that it is anxiety.
Look at my past posts. I believe you can do this by clicking on my name, or just search right-sided or rib pain.
Believe me when I tell you it is anxiety. Please.
