A little blood before period?

Hi! When I went to the washroom last night, I saw a little bright red blood in my undies. My period has been irregular for as long as I could remember! It's always late 5-16 days. I got my last period 30th November and today is 4th Jan. When I saw the blood, I thought my period was here. But there was no signs of blood in my urine. And up till now, which has been 24 hours, my period is still not here! I'm not sure if this can happen to signify that your period's coming soon?? This is a little awkward, but before that happened, I was kind of having my "alone time" but I don't insert anything in. Can that also be why it happened?

I'm 16 and a virgin, if that changes anything.

You could be "spotting." Sometimes I get red blood or maybe sometimes brown, before my period really begins.
If you are new to this period thing, don't worry -- it will be irregular, late, early, annoying, short, too long...etc. I've had my period for 11 years, I think?? It's totally regular now and I use no hormones.

You can feel free to vaginally masturbate, too. You can insert things into your vagina anytime during your cycle. If that is what you like, there should be no reason a period stops you!
